Terms of use.

These terms cover using QRCode.so: the browser-based generators, calculators, the scanner, the label maker and bulk export, and the hosted QR Shops pages and accounts. By using the site you agree to them.

Free tools that run in your browser

The QR code and barcode generators, the bulk generator, the label maker, the size and print-resolution calculators, the check digit calculator and image decoding in the scanner all run on your own device. They are free to use, including commercially, with no signup and no watermark. Encoding and local decoding do not send what you type to us.

Some features do involve our servers by design: the scanner's optional destination check sends the selected destination address to us, hosted QR Shops content is stored on our servers once you save it, and visits to a published hosted link are served and counted by us. A static code that points at a hosted address still results in a visit to that address when someone scans it. The privacy page sets out each case.

Accounts and hosted content

A free account is needed only to create a hosted QR Shops page. Content you publish through an account — shop details, menu items, prices, images and text — is yours, and you are responsible for it: that it is accurate, that you have the right to use any images or text you upload, and that it does not mislead anyone who scans a code pointing at it.

If you sell through a hosted page

A QR Shops page can display prices and collect an order or a payment claim, but this service does not process payments, verify that a payment was actually made, or act as a party to any sale. If you take orders or payments through a page you publish, you are the merchant: you are responsible for fulfilling orders, for handling refunds and disputes, and for meeting whatever tax, consumer-protection or licensing rules apply to your own business and location. A customer's claim to have paid is only a claim until you confirm it yourself.

What you encode

You are responsible for the content you put into a code: a link, contact details, a Wi-Fi password, a payment identifier or anything else. You must have the right to encode and distribute it. Codes that are used for phishing, malware distribution, impersonation, payment fraud or any other deceptive or unlawful purpose are prohibited, and we may remove hosted pages we become aware are being used that way.

Barcodes are drawn, not issued

Generating an EAN, UPC or other retail barcode image does not assign you that number. A number used on a real retail product must be licensed from GS1 (or a legitimate reseller) before it is printed and sold.

Verify your own prints and scans

Whether a printed code scans reliably depends on your printer, the material, the size and the scanning device — none of which we control. Test a proof with the device you expect people to actually use before committing to a print run; the scanner can confirm exactly what a printed code decodes to.

Availability

This is a free service provided as-is. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, that hosted pages will remain online indefinitely, or that any particular level of security is in place. Keep your own copy of anything important — an exported label file, a saved shop draft, a downloaded code image — rather than relying solely on this site continuing to hold it.

These terms may be updated as the service changes. The date at the top shows when this page was last revised.
